SoSocio’s core product is an HTML5 Facebook Photobook application that enables users to create digital and printed photo books and cards from social-network photos across desktops, smartphones and tablets. The service sells softcover and hardcover photo books (€12.95 and €16.95 respectively) and reports roughly a thousand books being created per day. It also sells its tools as a white-label service to traditional print companies and offers the app to brands for customer engagement, which the company says drives a higher proportion of printed orders. The startup plans international expansion to Germany, France, the U.K., Italy and Spain first, with a U.S. push planned later as the app gains some traction there. As user numbers grow, SoSocio intends to increase in-app advertising as an additional monetization channel. The company will use the latest funding to fuel this international expansion and to support an upcoming app update with expanded print support.
