Overview
Spectrum Labs provides an AI-powered Trust & Safety platform that applies Natural Language Understanding to analyze user-generated content across text and audio. Its technology classifies 40+ distinct toxic behaviors in 30+ languages, supports workflow automation, and offers analytics and reporting for moderation teams. The platform is patented and is used by more than 20 customers across dating, gaming, marketplaces, and social networks, including Riot Games, Grindr, The Meet Group, Fandom, and Wildlife Studios. Spectrum Labs says its tools can collapse content moderation costs by 50% and increase detection of harmful behaviors by 10x; its platform helped Riot classify more than 200 million lines of disruptive behavior. With the new funding, the company plans to scale adoption of its moderation technology into enterprise functions such as human resources, sales, customer service, and brand safety. Spectrum Labs builds AI-driven algorithms and a set of APIs to moderate, track, flag and stop harassment, hate speech, radicalization and more than 40 profiles of toxic behavior in multiple languages. Its primary product, Guardian, is offered as a dashboard or as integratable services and helps customers vet policies, generate training samples and improve moderation models. Customers span gaming (Riot Games), social networks (Pinterest), online dating (the Meet Group), marketplaces (Mercari), DTC brands and organizations tracking internal conversations. The company was founded in the wake of the 2016 U.S. election by CEO Justin Davis and CTO Josh Newman, who drew on prior experience at Krux and Salesforce. Spectrum Labs plans to use the new capital to continue expanding its platform. To date the company has raised about $14 million.
