Overview
Spike Diabetes is an invite-only iOS app that uses AI-driven reminders, proactive meal suggestions and device synchronization to help people with diabetes monitor glucose and manage insulin. At TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin the company launched a Guardian Portal so approved family members and doctors can view data in real time and coach patients. The app offers customizable mobile charts, an Apple Watch companion, audible stats and engineering optimizations to minimize battery usage. Spike proactively suggests diabetes-friendly meal options, schedules insulin reminders after meals, and plans to surface behavioral tweaks such as walking-route suggestions as it learns user tastes. The team includes diabetics, engineers and PhDs and is led by co-founder Ziad Alame. The company has $200,000 in seed funding from MEVP, Cedar Mundi and Phoenician Funds and operates a freemium model with a planned premium paid offering.
