Overview
Spinal Kinetics designs and manufactures the M6-C cervical and M6-L lumbar artificial discs, which replicate the anatomic structure and biomechanics of a natural disc by incorporating both an artificial nucleus and annulus. The M6 technology was introduced internationally in 2006, is available in over 27 countries, and has approximately 30,000 implants to date. The company completed an FDA‑approved pilot study in the U.S. and has received FDA approval to initiate a larger clinical trial comparing single‑level cervical disc replacement to single‑level fusion, with enrollment already underway at multiple U.S. spine centers. Spinal Kinetics plans to use recent financing to initiate the U.S. FDA clinical trial for the M6‑C and to expand international commercialization and clinical programs. The company also announced a global settlement of patent litigation with Synthes and DePuy Synthes, with terms confidential. Founded in 2003 and based in Sunnyvale, California, Spinal Kinetics focuses on developing innovative and practical solutions for treatment of spinal disease.
