SPiNE
Metzstr. 2, Munich, Bayern, 81667, Germany
Overview
SPiNE builds a middleware platform that serves as a central interface connecting energy suppliers, installers, grid operators, OEMs and HEMS systems to process energy data in real time and enable secure, grid-compliant control. The platform is intended to provide a scalable application layer and a network management system for monitoring and control of distributed assets. The company aims to have more than 20,000 households connected to its platform by 2027. SPiNE highlights a large market opportunity, citing an expectation of about 28 million Smart-Meter-Gateway installations in Germany by 2032, roughly 16 million with active control. The startup was founded in February 2024 by Ron Melz, Martin Stötzel and Thomas Müller and has just completed a €3 million Series A. The company is partnering with industry players through the DACH-wide Energy Launchpad initiative to accelerate deployment and scaling.
