Spiral Hydrogen
Delft, Netherlands
Overview
Spiral Hydrogen is developing a rotating, bubble-free electrolyser that routes gases through a porous electrode into a dedicated channel to avoid bubble-related efficiency losses. The company says this approach enables efficiency levels above 90%, which could lower capital and operating costs for green hydrogen production. Founders Juri Volodin and Fedor Stomakhin combine expertise in electrochemistry, energy systems, and software engineering. The startup aims to validate the technology with a pilot at the Port of Rotterdam in partnership with SwitcH2, targeting completion within two years. Success at pilot scale is intended to inform the design of a first commercial unit. Spiral Hydrogen raised €2.7M in pre-seed funding plus €0.7M in grants to support the pilot transition.
