Spoor

Nedre Slottsgate 5, Oslo, 0157, Norway

Overview

Founded in 2020 and based in Oslo, Spoor has developed patented computer-vision models that work with off-the-shelf cameras to detect, classify and track birds and bats at species level from long range. Its system integrates directly into wind-farm control architectures, enabling automated mitigation and shutdown-on-demand workflows required by new biodiversity mandates. Leveraging a database of more than one million bird observations and 200,000 hours of video footage, the product can survey up to 100 times more airspace per camera than conventional solutions, delivering faster and lower-cost deployments. Spoor already holds contracts across the project lifecycle with over 20 tier-one customers such as Ørsted, RWE, Vattenfall, TotalEnergies and Equinor. The company employs 22 people and plans to expand head-count in sales, engineering and deployment following its recent financing. Management intends to deepen integrations with wind-farm control systems and support global scaling as installed wind capacity is projected to rise from 1.3 TW today to 2.1 TW by 2030. Spoor’s investors include SET Ventures, EnBW New Ventures, Ørsted Ventures, Superorganism, Futurum Ventures and the Norwegian state climate fund Nysnø.
