Overview
SpyCloud transforms recaptured darknet data to protect businesses from cyberattacks. Its products operationalize Cybercrime Analytics (C2A) to produce actionable insights that enable enterprises to proactively prevent ransomware and account takeover, safeguard employee and consumer identities, and investigate cybercrime incidents. The company's data comes from breaches, malware-infected devices, and other underground sources and also powers many dark web monitoring and identity theft protection offerings. SpyCloud's solutions integrate with Active Directory, Okta, Tines, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, and Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSOAR, among other identity, incident response, orchestration and directory services tools. Customers include global enterprises, mid-size companies, and government agencies around the world. Led by CEO Ted Ross and founded in 2016 in Austin, TX, the company said it will use the $35M growth financing to expand its offerings following a Series D raise in August 2023 led by Riverwood Capital. SpyCloud operationalizes identity analytics to recapture and analyze data from the criminal underground and automate remediation of exposed authentication and identity data. Its platform identifies and remediates stolen session cookies, credentials, and other authentication data, and its SpyCloud Compass solution enables post-infection remediation of malware exposures. The company plans to release authentication bypass prevention solutions to protect businesses and consumers from compromised passkeys, grow its database of recaptured malware assets, and evolve analytics that link personal and corporate identity exposures. More than 500 market leaders — including half of the Fortune 10 — use SpyCloud, and its solutions protect over four billion accounts globally. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, SpyCloud is home to nearly 200 cybersecurity experts. Following a $30 million Series C in 2020, the company says it tripled revenue and has expanded offerings across enterprise protection, consumer risk protection, and investigations. SpyCloud offers account takeover (ATO) prevention and fraud investigation solutions backed by a comprehensive, actionable repository of exposed assets. Its products integrate with other systems to proactively defeat fraud attempts and disrupt criminals’ ability to profit from stolen information. The company says it protects billions of consumer and employee accounts either directly or through product integrations. Led by CEO and co-founder Ted Ross, SpyCloud focuses on advancing detection and prevention capabilities. The company intends to use new funding to grow its product and engineering teams and build new ways to detect and prevent fraud. Eric Byunn of Centana Growth Partners joined SpyCloud’s board in conjunction with the financing. SpyCloud operates a database of exposed credentials and PII compiled via underground intelligence gathering to help prevent account takeover by identifying exposed employee and customer accounts and passwords and notifying customers to remediate them automatically. The company’s product is used by hundreds of enterprises across networking, travel and hospitality, financial services, healthcare, retail and higher education. SpyCloud reports holding more than 60 billion assets in its database and in 2018 recovered and analyzed almost 3.5 billion sets of online credentials from nearly 3,000 breaches and dark‑web sources, with more than 2.6 billion sets including a password. The company plans to use new funding to grow its security research team and its database of recovered assets, extend R&D and product development into specific vertical markets, expand sales and marketing, and increase its international presence. Founded in 2016, SpyCloud emphasizes proactive remediation to stop fraud and limit harm to finances, IP, sensitive data and brand reputation. SpyCloud is an Austin, Texas–based account takeover (ATO) prevention platform led by CEO and co-founder Ted Ross that proactively identifies exposed employee and customer accounts. The company uses proprietary collection techniques to amass a large repository of exposed accounts, leaked passwords and PII, with more than 32 billion current assets and billions of new assets added every month. Enterprises use SpyCloud’s data and fully automated tools to detect exposures and remediate impacted employee accounts by forcing password changes and surfacing compromised devices infected with keyloggers or malware. Service providers use SpyCloud’s data repository and API to detect and prevent online customer account takeover, fraud and PII theft, and enterprise security teams use the data for fraud investigation. SpyCloud closed a $5m Series A to accelerate product development, conduct deeper security research, expand its database of assets and hire additional team members. Backers on the round included existing investors Silverton Partners and March Capital Partners.
