Sqrl offers a request engine that automates creating, tracking, following up on, and processing client document requests for accountants. The service reminds individual clients of needed files and provides a mechanism for uploading and delivering those files to the accountant. Accountants are notified only after all necessary files are delivered, reducing manual follow-up. Sqrl was conceived by Ryan Watson, Ryan Baker, and Craig Baldwin as an internal solution for their online firm Upsourced Accounting and was developed with Zack Brown and Drew Miller after participating in The Brandery accelerator in Cincinnati. The company will offer a basic feature set free and plans multi-user paid plans with premium features such as white‑labeled notifications, customized security, and team collaboration. Sqrl secured $550,000 in funding from CincyTech, Hyde Park Venture Partners, and Vine Street Ventures.
