Squad is an invitation-only mobile community that organizes small, curated in-person gatherings to help Gen Z and Millennials form authentic friendships. The product blends digital discovery with real-world meetups, an experience founder and CEO Isa Watson says "mimics building relationships in real life." Watson initially financed development with personal and family capital and spent several years cultivating credibility and a network in Silicon Valley. Early angel support included GoDaddy chief product officer Steven Aldrich and a small pre-seed check from Precursor Ventures. In 2019 the company closed a $3.5 million seed round to accelerate product refinement and distribution. Squad plans to return to the market for a Series A in early 2020, leveraging its investors’ strengths in product, growth, and marketing to scale. Although no user or revenue figures were disclosed, the company maintains a tight, invite-only model to preserve trust and engagement among its young demographic.
