Staffbase

Annaberger Straße 73, Chemnitz, Sachsen, 09111, Germany

Overview

Staffbase provides a platform for internal communications that lets teams craft, send and measure the impact of messages via an email app, intranet tools and an employee app. Its suite can integrate with existing tools or serve as a replacement, and it specifically targets internal communications teams rather than general collaboration products. The company serves 2,000 enterprise customers covering about 13 million workers. Staffbase plans to use new funding to build more integrations and functionality, with a particular focus on integrating Microsoft 365, and to continue expanding its business from its base in Chemnitz, Germany. The roadmap may extend into workplace training and gamification over time, though the company has not yet entered that area. The company was valued at $1.1 billion following the round. Staffbase provides an intranet-style internal communications platform that combines mobile employee apps and intranets into a single solution. The platform integrates with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and Slack to support enterprise communications workflows. Founded in Chemnitz, Germany in 2014, Staffbase has onboarded more than 1,000 clients including Adidas, Audi, Ikea, Johns Hopkins University and Volvo. The company employs 450 people across 11 locations, with offices in London, New York, Vancouver, Amsterdam and Berlin. In March it merged with Canadian internal-communications provider Bananatag to expand its offerings. Staffbase recently raised a $145M growth round to accelerate its expansion, particularly in North America. Staffbase is a mobile-first employee communication and experience platform that centralizes company news, HR services and internal processes to reduce reliance on email and legacy intranets. The platform was developed with non-desk workers in mind and has since broadened to include a sophisticated desktop experience while retaining its mobile-first ease of use. It integrates with HR platforms and Office 365 and is positioned as a front-end layer for employee communication and engagement. Staffbase was founded in 2014 in Chemnitz, Germany and now operates with more than 200 employees across seven locations, including a HQ in New York. The company cites extensive customer deployments — for example, DHL is rolling out Staffbase to more than 350,000 employees across hundreds of locations in over 200 countries — and emphasizes high customer satisfaction and usage rates. To date Staffbase has raised $35 million in total funding. Staffbase provides a mobile intranet app that enables companies to manage corporate news, forms, documents, calendars and shift plans via an intuitive user interface. The platform focuses on non-desk workers, home-office employees and others without direct access to the internal company network. The company is led by CEO and co-founder Dr. Martin Böhringer. Customers include Siemens, Viessmann and T-Systems MMS. Staffbase raised €2.02m in a Series A round to support growth and product development. It intends to use the funds to expand in the US, open a branch office in New York, internationalize its marketing and sales teams, and further develop the platform.
