Sunroom Rentals provides a mobile-first marketplace and leasing app that lets renters tour, apply for and lease units entirely online while outsourcing leasing operations for property managers and apartment owners. Launched in May 2018 by Ben Doherty and Zachary Maurais (the former founders of Favor), the company focused initially on the Austin market. Since launch Sunroom has signed more than 2,000 leases and enrolled over 100,000 renters, which the company says represents roughly 10% of renters in the greater Austin metro. Sunroom claims it leases units five days faster than the market average and generates both transactional and subscription revenue from its marketplace and partner software. The company has 18 employees and aims to more than double headcount this year, hiring across engineering, product and sales. It plans to use new funding to expand across Texas (including Houston, San Antonio and Dallas) and to invest in its partner portal to provide real-time leasing performance data to owners and property managers.
