The company’s long-term plan is to become an all-in-one home energy platform, expanding into services such as EV chargers, heat pumps and smart software to optimise tariffs and support grid balancing. The business raised significant capital to fund its rollout and support product expansion. Sunsave provides solar panels and batteries on a subscription model authorized by the UK Financial Conduct Authority, enabling customers to avoid upfront lump-sum payments while taking ownership of the system. The offering includes flexible, loan-based subscriptions with no early repayment fees or penalties. The company is Oxford-based and secured regulatory approval that could pave the way for wider adoption of subscription solar in the U.K. Sunsave has raised a £5.4 million seed round led by impact VC Norrsken and has attracted previous backers including IPGL, Plug and Play and several angel investors. In its 18 months of operation the startup has raised £9.2 million in total. The model could support future expansion into micro-grids and selling energy back to larger suppliers. Sunsave is positioned as part of a broader trend of subscription solar seen in markets like Germany, Spain and the U.S.
