Surgical Theater develops virtual reality and image guidance software that lets neurosurgeons virtually walk inside a patient’s anatomy alongside the patient. Its applications enable surgeons to perform a “virtual exploration” to view the inside of the brain through a small craniotomy opening and to examine pathology and vital brain structures. The software suite also provides HIPAA-compliant peer-to-peer consultation in specific cases. The company’s devices are FDA cleared and obtained CE Mark in September of this year. Its systems have been installed in research and teaching hospitals across the U.S., including University Hospitals Case Medical Center, University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, The Mount Sinai Hospital, Mayo Clinic, and NYU Langone Medical Center. Surgical Theater is led by CEO and co-founder Moty Avisar and completed a $9M Series A financing.
