Management sees social and casual free-to-play titles as the fastest-growing segment in XR and aims to build an industrialized pipeline of such content while preserving its narrative DNA. Strategic collaborations with XR platforms and preferred-partner status on Horizon Worlds give the firm early access to new technologies. The recent €5 million ($6 million) raise provides the capital needed to staff up, secure major entertainment IP, and accelerate growth alongside partners like HTC.

Wevr is a creative development and production studio focused on interactive and spatial (XR) experiences and real-time 3D content. Its core offerings include immersive and location-based experiences, spatial apps, and a Virtual Studio platform for real-time 3D production. Wevr is launching Transport, a video platform currently in private beta designed to showcase VR filmmaking. Transport will be available on the web and on major VR head-mounted displays including Google Cardboard, Samsung Gear VR, HTC Vive, Oculus VR and PlayStation VR. The company aims to connect content creators with a large network of VR users and to be the most effective way for VR filmmakers to showcase their work. To reach as wide an audience as possible, Transport is being built as a cross-platform service across web and all major HMD platforms. Wevr has secured $25 million in investments from a group of strategic partners to support product development and distribution. The team emphasizes early experimentation in content distribution given limited data on VR content absorption patterns. WEVR is an open VR platform and community based in Los Angeles that enables developers to create and publish virtual-reality content. The company operates a grant program, OnWEVR, which awards VR producers between $5,000 and $50,000 to support projects. HTC purchased a roughly 15% stake in WEVR for nearly $10 million, providing a material capital injection. HTC framed the investment as a way to build more content for its upcoming Vive headset and to bolster the Vive ecosystem. Proprio builds Paradigm, a real-time surgery guidance device that maps pre-operative scans to a live 3D representation and shows surgeons sub-millimeter guidance during spinal procedures. The system’s Prism imaging array combines multiple RGB cameras, infrared stereo cameras and a dedicated depth sensor to continuously register vertebrae without physical markers. Proprio received FDA 510(k) clearance for stereotaxic navigation for spine surgery and plans to commercialize by deploying the platform in operating rooms and taking on first in-human cases this summer at partnering hospitals. Commercial rollout will require scaled manufacturing, testing, training and field support. Beyond spine surgery the company sees applications in other difficult procedures (for example joint reconstruction) and anticipates a data opportunity to collect high-fidelity surgical recordings for training, outcome analysis and retrospective review. The company announced $43 million in new funding and maintains an office in Seattle where the team and co-founders including CEO Gabriel Jones and CMO Dr. Samuel Browd are based. Proprio develops a computational imaging system that provides enhanced visualization to enable precise surgical execution. The platform integrates robotics, artificial intelligence and computer vision to simplify surgical workflow, improve procedural accuracy and reduce or eliminate exposure to radiation. Proprio’s system is intended to increase surgical productivity while improving precision. The company plans to use the new funding to expand its development teams, accelerate clinical and regulatory timelines, build commercialization capabilities and install the first Proprio systems in leading institutions. Leadership additions and technical advisors have been added to support commercialization and product development, including hires with expertise in regulatory affairs and operations and advisors from Microsoft and academia. The co‑founders and leadership team include CEO Gabriel Jones, Ken Denman, Dr. Joshua Smith, Head of Engineering James Youngquist and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Samuel Browd. Proprio Vision develops a light-field platform that captures real-time volumetric video, enabling surgeons to change viewpoints in immersive, accurate 3D. The system couples light-field arrays with software similar to a powerful video-game engine and is designed to work with existing medical imaging such as MRIs and CT scans. Immediate use cases include teaching via playback from different angles, surgical planning and remote collaboration, and the company aspires to supplant tools like surgical microscopes and fluoroscopy. Proprio emerged from stealth in Seattle and started as a secretive operation at the University of Washington; it has clinical research partnerships with Seattle Children’s and UW Medicine. The startup has 10 employees, plans to double headcount this year and hire AR/VR specialists, and is opening a workspace in Seattle’s Lower Queen Anne neighborhood. Proprio positions itself against incumbents such as Intuitive Surgical and emphasizes improving surgeon user experience through AR/VR and computer vision.

Hexa builds a tech stack that creates, manages and distributes 3D models and AR/VR-ready assets from images using AI-assisted tools combined with human engineering. Imverse has developed a proprietary voxel graphics engine capable of live capture, rendering and streaming of multiple holograms in real time for telepresence and volumetric content. Its technology creates full‑body volumetric humans at a fraction of the cost, without industrial cameras or powerful computing equipment, and with low latency, enabling delivery at rates comparable to mainstream video conferencing. Imverse Holo lets creators and businesses set up multi‑camera systems for live volumetric video capture with no green screens or cloud services, and enables producers and consumers to edit, interact and manipulate content in real time. The platform targets use cases including virtual teleconferencing, immersive education, healthcare, gaming and the Metaverse. Over the past year the company has secured partnerships with several large technology companies and expanded operations to France. Imverse is currently focusing on enterprise solutions and has raised funding to accelerate software development, team growth and global product rollout. Imverse is a Swiss VR start-up whose graphics software makes the creation of photorealistic 3D content 10 times faster and cheaper than current solutions. Its product lineup includes IMVERSE LiveMaker, which creates 3D universes from a single 360° picture, and a real-time hologram solution called “Elastic Time” that captures visitors and renders life-size photorealistic bodies in VR immediately. The company showcased these technologies at SIGGRAPH, holding the first-ever VR workshop in VR. Proceeds from its recent CHF1.5 million financing will be used to double the team and expand engineering, sales and business development, and to produce VR content for marketing. Imverse also plans to open an office in Los Angeles to be closer to customers, partners and investors. CEO and co-founder Javier Bello Ruiz said there is a clear market fit for both the holograms and the reconstruction software and that users are enthusiastic. Imverse builds a real-time mixed-reality engine that composites users’ actual bodies and other real-world objects into VR, aiming to increase presence and ease headset adoption. The team spent five years developing the technology at EPFL and debuted public demos at Sundance Film Festival, including the Elastic Time experience. Imverse is also developing LiveMaker, described as a “Photoshop for VR,” to let creators edit and build VR experiences from inside a headset. The company has a four-person core team; CTO Robin Mange brings roughly 12 years of specialization in volumetric rendering. Imverse has worked with content studios such as Emblematic Group and is planning a Los Angeles presence to accelerate commercial partnerships. Financially, the startup has raised $400,000 to date and is pursuing a multi-million-dollar Series A to fund expansion. Observers in the article suggested VR platform companies would likely be interested in acquiring the technology if commercialization falters.
