  • Pear Suite

    Participated · Equity · Jun 2024

Founded in 2021, Pear Suite offers an AI-enabled software platform and wrap-around services that equip community health workers (CHWs), community-based organizations, and health plans with tools for care coordination, reimbursement, and data insights. The product lets CHWs use their lived experience to close care gaps and address social determinants of health while unlocking sustainable Medicaid and Medicare payments. Beyond software, Pear Suite is building a national provider network that already connects more than 300 provider organizations with over 25 health plans. The company has empowered 2,500+ CHWs, promotores, doulas, and other frontline workers to deliver trust-based interventions. With its new funding, management plans to increase the size of this provider network tenfold, deepen Medicaid relationships, and expand aggressively into Medicare contracts. The ultimate goal is to cement CHWs as a foundational part of U.S. healthcare by supplying the contracting, clinical, and claims infrastructure they need to thrive. While the company has not disclosed revenue figures, it recently strengthened its balance sheet with a $7.6 million Series A round.

Its proprietary technology combines real-time sensors, adaptive surfaces and personalized control to restore circulation, protect skin integrity and reduce fatigue. The company manufactures all products in-house and goes to market via clinical partnerships, major DME distributors and direct sales. Kalogon recently raised $5.75M and plans to use the proceeds to expand operations and advance product development. The article notes returning investors among the new round, but does not disclose revenue or user metrics.

  • Betterleave

    Participated · Seed · Nov 2023

Betterleave offers a comprehensive digital health platform and clinical care solution addressing the full bereavement spectrum from pre-need to immediate need, loss navigation, and continuous grief support. The platform supports multiple grief types—loss of a loved one, pregnancy loss, pet loss, anticipatory loss, and relationship loss—and provides licensed therapists, grief support groups, family counseling, wellness, doula, and spiritual services. It includes patient and caregiver features such as programmatic messaging and family collaboration, and helps employers build and launch bereavement care programs. The company maintains a global network of coaches and therapists and has partnered with hospices, insurers, and hospital systems; it is in‑network with Humana, Aetna, Cigna, United, and BCBSTX. Betterleave was launched last year by founder and CEO Cara McCarty Abbott and is supported on product by Head of Product Sam Leung. The company plans to expand its clinical care model and refine its grief training curriculum to meet growing demand; about 75% of members engaging with the platform and providers see an improvement in their systems.

  • Homecare Hub

    Participated · Seed · Sep 2023

Homecare Hub is a Toronto-based company building an on-demand, tech-enabled small care home platform to deliver home care and housing solutions. The company’s core product combines technology and on-demand services to support small care homes. It raised USD2.5M in seed funding and intends to use the funds to scale its solution. Backers included Froedtert Health’s venture arm Inception Health, Ballad Health’s venture arm Ballad Ventures, the Center for Aging + Brain Health Innovation (CABHI), AARP, Blue Lion Global, FHS Capital, and prominent angel investors. The round was announced alongside the company’s plans to expand its offering. Homecare Hub is led by CEO and Co-founder Dr. Vipan Nikore and technology leader Rahim Lalani. Dr. Nikore has clinical experience at the Cleveland Clinic and medical leadership roles, and Mr. Lalani has over 20 years of technology experience.

  • De Oro Devices

    Participated · Seed · Jun 2022

De Oro’s core product, the NexStride, is a self-contained, attachable gadget that provides two external cues — a metronome-like ding and a laser-projected line — to trigger alternate neural pathways and reduce freezing in people with Parkinson’s. The unit mounts to a walker or cane with a stretchy loop and includes a corded controller and hardware dials to set volume, tempo, and laser position. The company chose a manual operation model after user and clinician feedback, and customer polls and clinical referrals indicate improved confidence and mobility among users. NexStride competes with devices like the U-Step but differentiates on portability and the ability to attach to users’ preferred mobility aids; De Oro keeps manufacturing in the U.S., which raises costs. The retail price is $500 and is not yet broadly covered by insurance, though veterans can obtain units through the VA and the Parkinson’s Wellness Fund may cover partial or full costs for some buyers. De Oro plans to use recent funding to scale operations and expand distribution so more people can access the device.
