Swarmbotics AI

10510 East Sunnyside Drive, Scottsdale, Arizona, 85259, United States

Overview

Swarmbotics AI is emerging from stealth with an ecosystem called ANTS (Attritable, Networked, Tactical Swarm) focused on ground-based swarm robotics for battlefield logistics and tactical roles. Its initial hardware platforms are a larger hybrid-electric Haul ANT ATV and a smaller 60-pound Fire ANT, both designed as rolling battery platforms to carry varied payloads such as intelligence, surveillance, electronic warfare, kinetics, or medivac. The company emphasizes lower-cost, attritable platforms to enable proliferation at volume rather than relying on very expensive, high‑precision systems. Founders Stephen Houghton and Drew Watson launched the company last summer after roles at Embark Trucks, Cruise, AWS robotics, the CIA and NASA’s JPL. The 11-person team has developed its first ANTS platforms and is focused on adding agents, building out swarm behaviors, and improving individual-robot autonomy. Swarmbotics has raised a little over $4 million from Quiet Capital, Silent Ventures, LMNT Ventures and Soma Capital, with almost all capital spent on engineering. Short‑term go-to-market efforts target DOD acquisition officers while the company eventually plans to sell robots to commercial firms.
