Overview

Sweetch is an Israeli company that builds an AI-driven behavior-change app which analyzes smartphone “lifeprint” data to deliver hyper-personalized, emotionally intelligent reminders. The app times messages and modulates tone to increase the likelihood users follow clinical advice, and is distributed via partnerships with healthcare organizations, pharma, payers and providers rather than as an open app. Sweetch reports "tens of thousands of users" and about 45% of patients remain active after 24 months. In a 55-person prediabetes trial run at two Johns Hopkins Clinical Research Network sites, participants who completed the three-month study increased physical activity by an average of 2.8 MET-hours, lost ~1.6 kg, and reduced A1c by ~0.1%. The company has received NIH grant support to continue testing against gold-standard interventions and plans upcoming randomized controlled trials. Sweetch says it will use the Series A proceeds to expand into the U.S. and Brazil, grow its user base, and further tailor recommendations for additional conditions. Sweetch offers a patent-pending mobile app that assesses individuals' diabetes risk with a conversion time horizon and uses algorithms to guide users to the key objectives of the Diabetes Prevention Program. The product is intended for people at risk of developing diabetes or those who may be undiagnosed. Sweetch aligns its guidance with the clinically validated diet and exercise regimen associated with the Diabetes Prevention Program. The company planned to participate in a pilot study at Johns Hopkins Medicine in the first quarter of the year. The recent financing will support Sweetch's ambition to go to market in the U.S. and to be prescribed by doctors there, leveraging the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid decision to provide reimbursement for DPP participants. Leadership includes CEO Dana Chanan, CMO and business development lead Dr. Yossi Bahagon, and CTO Dan Lichtenfeld.
