Overview
Swipe is an iOS app that lets users share full-screen photos and videos that are anonymous until a recipient replies, with swipes used to like, delete or reply. Posts are ephemeral and identity is revealed only through interaction, encouraging casual, low‑cost sharing and flirtatious discovery. The app uses an invite system that pushes invitations via SMS to highly connected users to seed viral growth. Android is planned (“coming soon”) while the product has spread rapidly among middle and high school users and is beginning to reach colleges. In the last 30 days the company reported adding roughly 500,000 users and logging 100 million swipes; the app had been live for about 2.5 months at that time. The founding team consists of co‑founders Marwan Roushdy and Addison Hardy and two other employees, and the company relocated to San Francisco after the founders moved there. Swipe previously raised a $1.7M seed round in November 2014 and now has additional capital from the new round to extend runway and iterate on the product.
