Symbio develops SymbioDCS, software that increases automation efficiency of factory robots on assembly lines. The company announced its official launch and has struck deals to implement its software with Nissan and Toyota in U.S. factories. Symbio says the technology dramatically increases automation and aims to increase factory capacity and flexibility, letting manufacturers build more product more quickly. It is also building developer-facing tools that let domain experts create and adapt automation solutions, combining AI strengths with human insight. Founded in 2014 and based in the Bay Area, Symbio employs around 40 people, mostly engineers. Financially, the company is backed by $30 million in total funding, including a $15 million Series B and earlier rounds from investors such as ACME Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Eclipse Ventures and The House Fund.
