Synakis
160 College Street, Suite 510, Toronto, Ontario, M5S 3E1, Canada
Overview
Synakis is developing ocular products built on a proprietary hydrogel platform designed for vitreous replacement and sustained therapeutic delivery. Its lead candidate, SNK-125, is a vitreous replacement therapy intended to address complications associated with current gas and oil treatments for retinal detachment. The company is pre-clinical and was spun out of Professor Molly Shoichet’s laboratory at the University of Toronto. Synakis recently raised CAD $2.6 million in an oversubscribed pre-seed round to advance GLP toxicology studies and carry out lead optimization. The firm plans to complete GLP toxicology by early 2027 to support an ITA filing with Health Canada. The announcement notes independent validation of the hydrogel platform and quotes company leadership and investor representatives on the scientific rigor and unmet clinical need.
