Overview
Founded in 2023 as a spin-off from the Institute of Science and Technology Austria, Syntropic is building a medical device that delivers targeted light therapy to stimulate the formation of neural connections associated with improved mood. The therapy is designed for at-home use and is accompanied by telemedical supervision. Early preclinical data reported by the company show marked improvements in drive, stress levels, and social withdrawal among participants. Syntropic initiated its first clinical trial (LUX-Trial) at the University of São Paulo in 2025 and soon after gained approval for a home-use study (NEON-Trial) with NYU Langone Health. The startup’s near-term priorities include advancing ongoing clinical development and preparing for U.S. FDA clearance as part of its planned market entry there. Financially, Syntropic disclosed a seven-figure funding round in July 2024 and has now added a mid-six-figure extension, bringing in fresh capital to fuel trials and regulatory work.
