94 Yigal Alon st., Tel Aviv, 6789139, Israel
Overview
Tabnine builds generative AI tools for the software development lifecycle, including Tabnine Chat, an AI code assistant that writes code and answers questions about organizations' codebases. Founded in 2012 by Dror Weiss and Eran Yahav, the company offers integration of first- and third-party models and supports on-premises or virtual private cloud deployments. Tabnine emphasizes control and personalization, using curated datasets and customer-trained private models to reduce legal and IP risk. The platform claims to have over a million users and 10,000 customers. Proceeds from the recent Series B will be used to expand its generative coding capabilities and to build out sales and global support teams. Tabnine expects to grow headcount from roughly 60 employees today to about 150 by year-end and has raised $55 million to date. Tabnine builds an AI-powered assistant that provides per-keystroke suggestions and full-line or function recommendations across IDEs such as VSCode, IntelliJ, Android Studio and Eclipse. Its platform uses small, code-native AI models trained on specific programming languages and also offers community models created by ecosystem partners. Developers can run Tabnine locally, in Tabnine's cloud, or on self-hosted installations, and the product integrates with GitHub, GitLab and BitBucket. The company says over one million developers use Tabnine to complete more than 4 million lines of code every day, and it counts thousands of paying customers including Accenture and LG. Management plans to use new proceeds to improve the developer experience, add capabilities and strengthen Tabnine’s enterprise offering, and intends to expand headcount across the U.S. and Israel from about 30 to over 40 employees. Tabnine faces competition from tools like GitHub Copilot, Ponicode and DeepCode as it aims to continue differentiating its code-native approach.
