Tactical Awareness Beacon Systems LLC (TABS) builds a portfolio of GPS-enabled hardware, software, services and business methods aimed at helping commercial financial institutions mitigate theft. Its initial product, ShadowCash, hides a GPS tracking device in a stack of bills and begins sending silent cellular location signals every five to ten seconds if the stack is lifted. Those signals are received by TrackString, the company’s proprietary back-end tracking system, which TABS support staff monitors 24/7 and can link to local police. TABS serves commercial, public and consumer sectors and has focused development on solutions for bank robbery and cash-theft scenarios. The company intends to use the funding to continue to refine and roll out ShadowCash. TABS was established in 2009 by CEO and co-founder Dean Sarjeant and is based in Woodbury, Connecticut.
