Overview
Tactus builds microfluidic technology that can automatically raise and lower physical keypads on flat-screen tablets and mobile phones. Its product roadmap includes standalone attachments for existing devices and integrated implementations that embed the technology into new devices. The company plans to ship Tactus-enabled attachments toward the end of 2014 and integrated devices in the first half of 2015. Tactus is using recent funding to scale up production following a partnership with Wistron. Beyond mobile computing, the company intends to explore automotive applications to address driver distraction. CEO Craig Ciesla discussed these plans and the fundraising in a TechCrunch interview.
