Overview
TargEDys builds on academic work identifying a molecular mechanism of the gut–brain axis to develop microbiome-based appetite-regulation products. It is developing ProbioSatys, a bacterial product that produces a protein with effects similar to the human satiety hormone α‑MSH and has shown effectiveness in preclinical models. The company’s second program, ProbioNutrys, uses a different bacterial species to stimulate appetite for seniors and cachectic or anorexic patients. Led by CEO Grégory Lambert, TargEDys intends to use the new funds to accelerate and strengthen development of its technologies and products. The company is based in Paris, France. TargEDys develops functional food, medical food and pharmaceutical products that use the microbiome to regulate appetite. Its pipeline includes interventions to reduce high appetite associated with overweight and to stimulate appetite in elderly, cachexic and anorexic patients. The company builds on research from co-founders Serguei Fetissov and Pierre Déchelotte and is led by CEO Grégory Lambert. TargEDys is based in Rouen, France. In April 2016 it raised €5.8M in a Series A financing led jointly by Seventure Partners, NCI and Pontifax to fund human clinical studies. Planned clinical studies will test efficacy in target populations and support product development across its functional food, medical food and pharmaceutical formats.
