Overview
Tarken is a Brazilian grain trading marketplace that connects buyers and sellers and operates an AI tool for commodity pricing. Founded this year by Luiz Tângari and Carlos Neto after their exit from Strider, the platform initially focuses on corn, which the founders estimate to be a $30 billion market. Tarken's AI aggregates data from multiple sources to generate city-level prices across Brazil and displays sellers, prices and freight costs on a searchable map. The platform vets freight operators and enables communication and transaction execution end-to-end, shortening a process that used to take about 12 weeks to a matter of days. Since launching four months ago, Tarken has facilitated over 1,000 negotiations, maintains several hundred open bids, and says negotiations are growing 50% per day; it expects 10,000 registered customers by year-end. The company plans to use new funding to finish its AI tool and hire engineers, while investing in marketing, content and education to attract growers and buyers.
