TeamBuy is a Toronto-based online deals platform that offers discounts across multiple categories including restaurants, healthy & beauty, electronics, home, fashion, luxury goods and general services. The company raised $5M in funding, with backers including BEST Funds and existing institutional investors such as Insight Venture Partners, ru-Net and Georgian Partners. TeamBuy intends to use the funds to expand into complimentary business models and grow new initiatives. It recently rolled out a digital flyer initiative highlighting weekly flyers and coupons from national retailers and brands. The company is advancing restaurant commerce initiatives including Tasteaway.ca (takeout & delivery), MenuPalace.com (restaurant and hospitality guide), and Www.DiningDateNight.com (discounted reservations). TeamBuy has joined the MasterPass by Mastercard program to offer customers a streamlined checkout experience. Launched in Toronto in 2009 and led by CEO Ghassan Halazon, TeamBuy merged with competitor Dealfind.com earlier in 2013.
