TeamSense offers an app-free platform that lets hourly manufacturing employees manage attendance, communicate with managers, and access company resources via SMS and mobile web links. Companies connect TeamSense to their HR systems; when an employee texts the service it validates their ID and links the phone number. Key features include Absence Management (which the company says has a 100% adoption rate), an employee portal, engagement and pulse surveys, a “text to apply” hiring flow, and AI that interprets call-out intent. The platform supports use cases such as calling off, volunteering for overtime, submitting maintenance requests, and accessing documents like handbooks. TeamSense was founded in 2020 and is based in Seattle. The company plans to grow by adding more use cases to increase productivity. It recently raised funding to expand its development and go-to-market teams. TeamSense provides employers with daily text- or email-based symptom surveys that employees can complete in under 20 seconds. Companies can customize surveys to local guidelines and job types, and managers get dashboards, daily rosters, and one-to-one chat functionality. The platform is aimed at industries with hourly on-site workers such as manufacturing, construction, warehousing, logistics, and hospitality, and responses are kept confidential so cleared workers can enter the workplace. TeamSense uses a SaaS, per-user pricing model and went from initial funding to paying customers in six weeks; customers include Heroux Devtek, Cord Contracting Co., and T&B Tube Company. The product is positioned to remain useful after the COVID-19 crisis for planning, compliance, and communication with hundreds of on-site workers. TeamSense was spun out from a Seattle innovation studio run by Pioneer Square Labs and Fortive and is led by CEO Sheila Stafford.
