Founded in 2021 out of research at Linköping University, TekSiC develops both crystal-growth equipment and production processes to manufacture semi-insulating silicon carbide (SI-SiC) wafers. Its flagship Xforge PVT furnace platform operates at temperatures above 2,500°C and has already been delivered to multiple industrial customers. The company is also developing proprietary hot-zone components aimed at extending equipment lifetime, improving yields, and lowering production costs. TekSiC has secured a major order from an international manufacturer entering the SiC wafer market and has demonstrated wafer quality within a national semiconductor programme supported by Tillväxtverket. The startup aims to establish Europe’s first commercial supply chain for SI-SiC, a material used in defence, satellite communications, and high-frequency telecom infrastructure. Its recent €1.45M seed round led by Turbine Capital will be used to accelerate commercialization of its Xforge platform and further develop its SI-SiC wafer technology.
