Terraformation
73-4485 Kahilihili Street, Kailua-Kona, HI, 96740, United States
Overview
Terraformation applies scalable operational practices to accelerate large-scale, sustainable reforestation and carbon removal. It builds modular field products including a shipping-container seed bank, a flat-packed nursery greenhouse kit, and solar-powered desalination rigs, and also develops software tools such as a mobile app for cataloguing and monitoring seeds. The company says it has planted “thousands” of trees with live projects in North America, South America, Africa and Europe and hopes current efforts will yield up to 20,000 replanted acres; it claims a restoration work-rate five times the average. Terraformation’s long-term goal is to restore three billion acres of native forest ecosystems by scaling parallel replanting projects and addressing bottlenecks in land availability, freshwater, and seed. It is organized as a Delaware C Corporation to operate with investors while pursuing mission-driven deployment. The Series A proceeds will be used to spin up more restoration projects, fund R&D and additional forestry acceleration products, and expand headcount to increase planting speed and scale.
