The Food Lab
25A, Street 84, Sarayat El Maadi, Cairo, Al Qahirah, Egypt
Overview
The Food Lab launched in October 2020 and was founded by Kareem El Daly, Ahmed Osman, and Wesam Masoud after two years of bootstrapping. It operates cloud kitchens and offers end-to-end services including procurement, delivery operations, and a machine-learning virtual brand consultant that provides menu reengineering, marketing, profitability, and customer segmentation insights. The company charges clients a percentage of revenues, including aggregation, marketing, and procurement fees. Since launch the startup says orders have grown 10x and revenues have increased 60x, with more than 50 restaurants and food brands using its platform and roughly 175,000 end customers served. Revenues have been growing 25–35% month-on-month. The founders plan to expand their footprint across Cairo and other key Egyptian governorates, hire operational and community roles, and further develop their technology for customers and partners, with a future push into the Middle East and sub‑Saharan Africa.
