The Last Guide Company
4000 23rd Street, San Francisco, CA, 94114, United States
Overview
Last is building a mobile local-discovery product that leverages what users’ phones know about them and their physical location to surface recommendations and make exploring easier. The company was founded by Gowalla co‑founder Josh Williams and designer Adam Michela; the team also includes front‑end developer Tyler Stalder, illustrator/designer Brian Brasher, and photographer Daniel Agee. Williams has said he is staying mum on specific product details, but that location and personal device data will be central to the experience. The team plans to bring its initial product to market later this year. To date Last has raised $2.1 million in seed capital to push its vision forward. The founders position the product as a departure from Gowalla’s early check‑in focus, reflecting that location is now ubiquitous across apps and phones know far more about users than before.
