TheraSonic
50 Rue Corvisart, Paris, Ile-de-France, 75013, France
Overview
TheraSonic’s core product combines transcranial focused ultrasound delivered by a robot-mounted emitter with intravenously injected microbubbles to temporarily disrupt the blood–brain barrier, allowing systemic drugs to reach brain tumors and metastases. The company holds an exclusive license to a patent and two software tools developed at the ICube laboratory in Strasbourg, which calculate robotic positions and motions to target tumors precisely; TheraSonic assembles the robot, ultrasound system and software into a medical device. Founded at the end of 2023 and based in Paris, it currently has seven permanent employees and two doctoral students. Initial clinical trials are set to begin in the autumn at Gustave Roussy, which is also a minority shareholder, followed by multi-center studies in Europe and the U.S. to support regulatory filings. TheraSonic plans to generate interim revenue by conducting studies for pharmaceutical companies and aims for first machine sales around 2030–2031.
