  • Maculaser

    Led · Equity · Aug 2026

Maculaser develops a temperature-controlled, non-damaging retinal laser therapy intended to treat age-related macular degeneration and other retinal diseases. The company plans to use the new funding to advance the therapy into clinical studies. Its stated aim is to enable earlier disease control to prevent irreversible retinal damage. The financing includes both equity from investors and non-dilutive R&D support from Business Finland. Investors in the latest round include ZEISS Ventures, M2care, Innovestor, Metsola Ventures and other existing shareholders. Since founding, Maculaser has raised a total of EUR 7.6 million.

  • Rhovica

    Led · Equity · Aug 2025

Rhovica Neuroimaging is a Bern-based MedTech startup founded in 2023 by neurosurgeons Martin Hlavica and Thomas Rhomberg. It is developing SoNav, a bedside navigation system with integrated sensors that provides real-time visualization for guided insertion of extraventricular drainage (EVD) catheters in emergency neurosurgery. The technology also reportedly enables continuous monitoring of brain ventricles, which the company says could reduce repeat CT scans, improve safety and outcomes, and lower costs. Rhovica positions SoNav to address the trade-off between speed and accuracy in emergency EVD placement and to improve patient outcomes in life-threatening increased intracranial pressure. The company raised €2.5 million in a financing round to accelerate development. M2care led the round and has appointed Carsten Laue to Rhovica’s board to support medtech strategy and company building as the team advances toward clinical adoption.

  • TheraSonic

    Led · Equity · May 2024

TheraSonic’s core product combines transcranial focused ultrasound delivered by a robot-mounted emitter with intravenously injected microbubbles to temporarily disrupt the blood–brain barrier, allowing systemic drugs to reach brain tumors and metastases. The company holds an exclusive license to a patent and two software tools developed at the ICube laboratory in Strasbourg, which calculate robotic positions and motions to target tumors precisely; TheraSonic assembles the robot, ultrasound system and software into a medical device. Founded at the end of 2023 and based in Paris, it currently has seven permanent employees and two doctoral students. Initial clinical trials are set to begin in the autumn at Gustave Roussy, which is also a minority shareholder, followed by multi-center studies in Europe and the U.S. to support regulatory filings. TheraSonic plans to generate interim revenue by conducting studies for pharmaceutical companies and aims for first machine sales around 2030–2031.

  • Previa Medical

    Participated · Seed · Feb 2023

Previa Medical develops SEPSI-SCORE, an AI platform that analyses electronic medical records to detect and define sepsis infections, in some cases up to 48 hours before symptoms appear. The system is trained to interpret personal data from patients' electronic health records, including vital signs, and aims to reduce sepsis mortality and shorten hospital stays. The product was certified as a medical device in 2021. Previa plans to use the recent seed proceeds to fund a new multicentre clinical trial to further validate the technology, recruit users, expand product reach, and prepare for a full commercial launch. The company originated from an AI for health challenge launched in 2022 by Bpifrance and the French health ministry and has received grant funding from that initiative. The seed raise totaled €2.1 million and will support both clinical validation and commercialization efforts.
