Overview

Totango provides a no-code customer success platform that lets SaaS companies design, optimize and run the entire customer journey while proactively detecting and resolving churn risks. The company reports customer ROI including over 23 points in churn reduction and 136% year-over-year expansion growth in revenue. Last year Totango launched a free version that onboarded thousands of companies, with those customers seeing over 3x growth in annual recurring revenue. Platform signups grew month over month across the last six quarters, which leadership cites as strong market demand. Totango says the new funding will be invested largely into product, design and engineering to keep up with rapid adoption. The company’s mission is to democratize customer success and simplify the process so customers receive value regardless of product complexity. Totango provides an enterprise customer success platform that connects all customer information so companies can proactively and intelligently engage to drive adoption, retention, expansion and referrals. The company emphasizes an Enterprise-to-Customer (E2C) strategy to broaden participation across organizations in making customers successful. In February 2018 Totango closed a $9 million funding round to continue scaling and pursue enterprise expansion. Participants in the round included existing investors BGV, Canvas, Pitango and Interwest, plus new investor Grayhawk Capital. Totango added enterprise clients in 2017 such as Dimension Data, Citrix and Computer Associates and has expanded its management team with hires including Jamie Bertasi (COO), Bill Hobbs (SVP of Sales) and Jill Rubin (CMO). The company said it will continue innovating and planned product enhancements to be announced at its Customer Success Summit in San Francisco on March 5–6, 2018. Totango is an enterprise-grade customer success platform based in San Mateo, CA, led by CEO Guy Nirpaz. The platform helps recurring-revenue businesses actively monitor customer health changes and drive engagement. The company serves enterprise customers including Act-On, Autodesk, Pandora, Clarabridge and Zoom. Totango raised $8M in a Series C financing led by Benhamou Global Ventures. The round included participation from returning investors Pitango Venture Capital, Canvas Ventures and Interwest Partners, and Eric Benhamou will join Totango’s board as chairman. The company intends to use the funds to scale sales and marketing operations while continuing to build on its suite of solutions. Totango provides a sensor-like analytics product that tracks individual customer actions inside SaaS products and flags usage issues and friction. Its core focus is preserving ongoing customer value for subscription businesses by surfacing churn risks and user confusion. The platform turns product usage data into actionable business intelligence to help SaaS companies reduce churn and improve retention. Totango is dual Israeli and U.S.-based and established a Silicon Valley office after expanding to the U.S. in 2012; CEO Guy Nirpaz spoke about Israel’s strengths in data-focused startups. Financially, the company announced a $15.5M Series B and had previously raised a $3.8M Series A in 2011. Near term the company plans to use the new capital to grow its product focus on preserving SaaS customer value and to execute on growth objectives. Totango offers a realtime customer-engagement platform that lets SaaS companies track prospects, new customers, and existing customers to inform sales interactions. It launched a public beta that is currently free and integrates with native Salesforce.com apps so sales teams can continue working within their CRM. Key features include segmentation by module usage, personalized daily digests on onboarding progress, activity pages, alerts, and realtime tracking during and after trials. The company plans to scale the platform to address the entire customer lifecycle and add pricing tiers in the future. Totango will use its new funding to ramp up hiring and marketing. Guy Nirpaz is CEO and Co-Founder.
