TRASH
697 Grand Street Suite 918, Brooklyn, New York, United States
Overview
Trash is a consumer app that uses computer vision and neural networks to analyze phone footage and synthesize it into short, music-video-style clips. Its tech pipeline covers analysis (identifying people, faces, actions and shot types) and synthesis (selecting the most interesting moments to create a diverse, edited sequence). The app presents itself with the tagline “You shoot, we edit,” and offers simple tweaks for music, speed and “vibe” before sharing. Trash is running a creator beta on iOS to gather training data and feedback, with plans to build an Android version eventually. The company says the model will improve as it ingests more user-shot footage, moving beyond the Hollywood-style cinematography used in initial training. Trash has said it is not focused on revenue yet but envisions monetization via sponsorships, pro features and allowing creators to sell footage within the app.
