TROD Medical develops the EncageTM radio‑frequency (RF) ablation device, designed to enable highly precise soft‑tissue ablation with reduced risk of side effects such as impotence and incontinence. The company reports first patients were treated successfully in a pilot study. TROD says the Encage technology targets focal prostate cancer and aims to offer an innovative treatment option with improved precision and consistency. Funding from the recent Series B will be used to perform clinical studies in both Europe and the US to further validate the technology. As part of the financing the company relocated its head office to Leuven and will collaborate with the Medical Imaging Research Center (MIRC) at University Hospitals Leuven. TROD was incepted in 2006 by Dr. Andre Faure and maintains headquarters in Leuven (Belgium) and the Tampa Bay area (USA).
