Trouva

300 St John St, London, United Kingdom

Overview

Trouva operates a curated online marketplace that aggregates products from independent brick-and-mortar boutiques, focusing on hard-to-find and aesthetically distinctive homewares and apparel. The platform offers boutiques backend tooling including inventory management and end-to-end shipping services, with options for next-day delivery. Trouva works with roughly 500 boutiques and targets a UK market it estimates contains more than 20,000 independent shops. The company launched in Berlin last year and is using the new capital to expand internationally. It plans to continue building technology around inventory and logistics management and may explore leveraging warehouse space in the future to support retailers. Trouva does not sell its own goods and sources 100% of supply from its brick-and-mortar partners. Trouva operates a technology platform that digitizes inventory for handpicked independent stores, enabling them to compete with larger retailers and e-commerce giants. The marketplace aggregates over 80,000 design-led products and currently brings together more than 350 UK shops across 115 towns and cities. Its platform supports real-time click-and-collect, one-hour delivery and worldwide shipping, and the company handles logistics and fulfillment for participating boutiques. Trouva accepts only a minority of stores that apply, provides cloud-based software to manage stock, and manages delivery options including same-day service. The company plans to use new funding to further develop its platform at existing stores and to expand to new shops and boutiques across the UK, and will establish a new base in Lisbon alongside its London HQ. Trouva has raised $13.8M to date. StreetHub, founded in 2013, is a U.K. startup that helps independent shops and boutiques be discovered and sell online via a mobile app with click-and-collect and 90‑minute local delivery. It works with a 350-strong network of independent shops and says over 40,000 customers used the app to discover and purchase from local stores. The company is launching Trouva, a consumer-facing e-commerce site that curates items from its network and enables purchases regardless of buyer location, including U.K. and international delivery. The StreetHub domain now redirects to trouva.com, signalling a pivot from an online-to-offline discovery play toward a pure e-retailer model. Trouva aims to make items from indie shops globally available while StreetHub continues to build out its underlying platform. The company has raised additional funding to support the Trouva launch and platform development. StreetHub’s iOS app lets shoppers browse nearby boutique products by location and either ‘click and collect’ directly from local stores or have items delivered within around 90 minutes via partner Shutl. Purchases made through the app receive a 10% discount and the company takes a rev-share on orders. The app is aimed at busy Londoners who want a virtual wandering experience through independent stores and lists jewellery, homewares, fashion and lifestyle products. StreetHub has onboarded about 300 of London’s boutiques since launch. Founded in 2013 by Mandeep Singh, Maxim Berglund and Alex Loizou, the service is currently only available in London. The startup positions itself as the Just Eat or OpenTable equivalent for independent retail. It partners with Shutl for rapid delivery; Shutl recently exited to eBay. StreetHub has received external capital, including a $1.2M investment and additional angel backing.
