Overview
Trusona provides passwordless authentication tools that let organizations verify employees and customers using biometrics, QR codes, document scanning and other methods instead of passwords. The company offers a software development kit (SDK) so developers can integrate frictionless sign-up and login flows into their apps. Trusona positions its service as a response to poor password hygiene and rising identity theft, and says it is seeing "unprecedented demand" from enterprises. Founded in 2015 and based in Scottsdale, Arizona, the company previously raised roughly $18 million, including a $10 million tranche led by Microsoft in 2017. With the new $20 million round, Trusona plans to build new products and expand its existing services to more businesses. The company frames its mission as eliminating compromised credentials and improving online security and user experience. Trusona is a secure identity authentication platform that leverages patented anti-replay technologies to make each authentication unique. Led by founder and CEO Ori Eisen, the company offers solutions ranging from No Password login to insured authentication protecting precious assets. In 2017 the company introduced Trusona for WordPress and Trusona for Salesforce. Its solutions are used by organizations across government, media, health care, finance and education. Trusona is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. It raised $10m in Series B funding to accelerate growth and international expansion. Trusona launched from stealth with an iOS mobile identity authentication platform centered on a physical TruToken and in-person identity verification. After verification, users register three personal magnetic-strip cards which become authentication keys. Authentication verifies both the card and the physical manner and speed of each swipe to defend against session-replay attacks. The company says its core technology has been used in ATMs for more than 119 million instances without failing. Trusona targets enterprises with sensitive access needs, including banks, brokerage houses, healthcare companies, and system administrators; pricing is $99 per person for initial sign-up (verification and TruToken) and $1 per verification thereafter. The Scottsdale, Arizona–based company announced an $8 million Series A led by Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers.
