Overview
UNA Watch is an Edinburgh, Scotland–based wearable tech startup that makes a smartwatch with upgradeable sensors tailored to runners, cyclists and hikers. The device offers real-time GPS tracking, heart rate monitoring and post-activity insights through a minimalist, adaptive UI. It charges via a standard USB-C cable and supports sensor upgrades over time. UNA provides a custom mobile app for iOS and Android that controls training data, insights, and watch customization and can integrate with platforms such as Strava. The company raised £200K on Kickstarter and intends to use the funds to expand operations and advance product development. Prior to the Kickstarter campaign, UNA had secured £300K in investment from SFC Capital. UNA Watch raised £300K to support expansion and product development. The company, founded by Lewis Allison and based in Edinburgh, Scotland, is developing a new category of sustainable smartwatches that let users repair, replace, and upgrade components rather than discard devices. With a four-person team, UNA Watch plans to launch its first GPS-enabled modular smartwatch via Kickstarter. More than 7,000 people have registered interest and almost 1,000 have already placed deposits. The firm has appointed two non-executive directors, Robin Knox and Andrew Coull, to help guide strategy. The recent financing will be used to expand operations and advance development efforts.
