Unusuals applies artificial intelligence to automate visual inspection and anomaly detection on linear infrastructures such as power lines and railways. Its solution combines computer vision for asset visualization, machine‑learning models for fault detection, and generative models to create synthetic images to improve training data. The company has been working with Red Eléctrica (a Redeia subsidiary) as the provider for anomaly detection on its transmission lines and is jointly developing a synthetic‑image project with them. Founded in 2016, Unusuals has participated in Elewit’s venture client program and won Elewit’s Data Challenge 2020, which led to a pilot testing its detection capabilities. The startup intends to continue refining its algorithms and to expand internationally and into adjacent sectors such as wind generation and telecommunications operators.
