Overview

UpKeep is a mobile-first platform that enables requesters, facilities managers and technicians to create, assign and complete work orders via a mobile app. Technicians can take photos, note needed parts and log job details in the app instead of using paper. UpKeep operates a freemium model: about 80% of its 400,000 users are on the free plan, while paid tiers range from $35/month/user (Starter) to $180/month/user (Enterprise). Higher-tier plans provide more in-depth reporting focused on assets and equipment, such as tracking equipment downtime. The company reported a 206% increase in revenue in 2019 and has now raised a total of $48.8 million. UpKeep is also working with OSHA and SQF to deliver pandemic-era sanitation and safety checklists to customers. UpKeep provides a mobile and desktop collaboration and maintenance application for facility management teams, enabling deskless workers to snap photos of equipment, create work orders, and send them for processing. The product gives managers visibility into parts and labor costs and time-to-close for maintenance projects. The company plans to use the new funding to scale engineering and product development and to build an online community for maintenance and reliability leaders. UpKeep was founded by Ryan Chan and is a Y Combinator Winter 2017 alumnus. It is based in Los Angeles, CA and serves more than 50,000 technicians across 1,000 businesses. Customers include Marriott, Jet.com, Unilever, McDonald’s and the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. UpKeep is a Los Angeles-based provider of a mobile-first maintenance management software platform, led by CEO and Founder Ryan Chan. The platform lets technicians snap a photo of broken equipment, create a work order, and send it to the maintenance department from their device. UpKeep serves 40,000 users and counts Stericycle and Unilever among its customers. On March 7, 2017, the company closed $2.7M in seed funding. Backers included Y Combinator, Bain Capital Ventures, Battery Ventures, Mucker Capital, FundersClub, Trifecta Capital, Vy Capital, Zillionize, Agile VC, and angel investors Advait Shinde, Ed Roman, and Xuezhao Lan. The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations.
