It has launched its first product, the Health Device API, which aggregates consumer data from wearables, RPM devices, and mHealth apps. The company plans to launch a Medical API to allow companies to access patients' medical records and interface with EHRs, targeting a 2023 release. Both products are open source and positioned as a Plaid-like layer for medtech focused on developer friendliness, transparency, and accessibility. Metriport raised a $2.4 million seed round at a $20 million valuation, all on post-money SAFEs, which the company says is being used to grow the team, accelerate engineering, and cover compliance and legal fees. Impossible Mining closed an additional $10.1 million in seed funding to fund development and testing of its deep‑sea robotics and to continue advancing its extraction technology. Leadership has emphasized the strategic importance of securing independent access to critical battery metals amid rising lithium‑ion battery demand.
- Alba Orbital
Participated · Seed · May 2021
Alba Orbital designs and builds sub-kilogram, solar-powered Earth-observation satellites (Unicorn-2) about the size of a soda can with paperback-size solar wings and an approximate unit cost of $10,000. Its satellites can capture up to 10-meter resolution imagery; the company has launched a proof of concept and already has six satellites in orbit. Alba’s stated goal is to provide Earth imagery at 15-minute intervals, which will require scaling manufacturing and launching hundreds more satellites. The next batch of satellites will focus on nighttime imagery to support use cases like energy and activity monitoring. Prior to this funding the company was bootstrapped and profitable; it already has customers lined up for the imagery it collects. The seed will fund finishing, shipping and launching the next sets of satellites and help Alba ramp production.
