Uptool is a San Mateo–based software company building specialized AI to streamline quoting for small and midsize manufacturers. Its platform ingests CAD files, engineering drawings, and related emails, automatically extracting relevant data to generate rapid cost and lead-time estimates. The technology reduces a traditionally manual, hours-long quoting process to minutes, delivering measurable productivity gains. Early customer VelocityCNC has already validated the platform’s effectiveness. Led by CEO Benny Buller and co-founder Alex Huckstepp, the founding team brings nearly five decades of combined experience from industrial leaders such as Applied Materials, Velo3D, and Carbon. With newly raised seed capital, Uptool plans to expand its engineering team and scale the underlying AI infrastructure to digitize more of the manufacturing workflow. The $6 million seed round represents the company’s first disclosed funding and provides the resources needed for accelerated growth.
