Urbvan
Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico
Overview
Urbvan operates a fleet of retrofitted, amenity-equipped vans that run fixed routes serving white-collar workers in congested Mexican cities. The company emphasizes safety with vetted and trained drivers, in-vehicle panic buttons, and interior/exterior cameras, and secures stops via partnerships with companies like WeWork and Walmart. Urbvan began operating in 2016 and now claims a fleet of 180 vans and more than 15,000 monthly users. Customers can buy single tickets at about $3 or subscribe to monthly passes priced between $100 and $130. The service currently runs in Mexico City and Monterrey and has plans to expand into Guadalajara later this year. Founders Joao Matos Albino and Renato Picard designed the business by adapting models seen in other markets (e.g., Chariot and Shuttl) to Latin America’s needs.
