Overview
Veriflow Systems builds “mathematical network verification” software that gives security and operations professionals a map of their networks and the ability to model configuration or device changes before implementation. Its models reveal where security holes may open and where changes could cause outages or suboptimal performance. The company already has a product in the market and counts clients including government offices it did not disclose. Veriflow plans to use new funding to raise awareness among IT operations and network-security professionals, hire, and continue research and product development. The founding team includes award-winning computer scientists Ahmed Khurshid, Matthew Caesar, and Brighten Godfrey; CEO James Brear previously led Procera Networks through a public offering and a $240 million buyout. Veriflow is based in Oakland, Calif. Veriflow develops software that uses mathematical network verification and algorithms to analyze an entire network’s state and prove or disprove correctness against functional specifications. The product is aimed at CISOs, network architects, engineers and operators to minimize security breaches and network failures by identifying policy violations and providing precise remediation steps. Its system locates policy violations and provides a precise identification of the vulnerability and how to fix it. Veriflow has already generated revenue and is deployed in production networks and lab trials with federal government agencies and multiple Fortune 500 companies across financial services, retail, manufacturing, e-commerce and telecom. The company launched with $2.9M in initial funding from New Enterprise Associates, the National Science Foundation and the Department of Defense. Veriflow expected to make the solution generally available in the second half of 2016 and also maintains a development center in Champaign, Illinois.
