VIA Optronics, founded in 2005 and based in Schwarzenbruck, Germany, supplies energy-saving LCD displays for handheld devices, laptops, televisions and industrial devices. The company partners with many leading consumer electronics manufacturers and supports them through manufacturing facilities in Germany, China and the US. In June 2010 the company received a €4.4m capital infusion from clean-technology private equity firm WHEB Ventures. WHEB Ventures is supported by the European Union through the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) and has joined existing shareholder BayBG. CEO and founder Juergen Eichner said the company looks forward to working with WHEB as it grows the organisation and expands its global operations.
