Overview

Vitrue offers a SaaS SRM platform that enables brands and marketing agencies to manage Facebook and Twitter accounts, location-based services, and mobile applications. Its platform is used by brands including Harley Davidson, Mentos, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Crocs, Eddie Bauer, Maybelline, Purina, McDonald’s, YouTube, Ford, AT&T, Disney and Best Buy. The service manages over 2,500 Facebook Pages and Twitter accounts across 47 countries, totaling 450 million fans and followers. That's up from 680 Twitter and Facebook accounts managed in October 2010. Vitrue tripled accounts and saw nearly 100% revenue growth from Q2 2010 to Q3 2010 and is cash-flow positive. With the new financing the company will open offices in seven U.S. markets and establish presences in London, Toronto and Singapore. To support the expansion it plans to hire between 100 and 150 employees in 2011. ViTrue hosts user-generated video with an explicit advertising focus, positioning itself as a "Branded Video Community" to promote brand engagement. The site currently features homemade videos tied to brands such as Moe’s Southwest Grill, Lance Foods, The Cincinnati Bengals, and The Nerd League. ViTrue also owns the online video-sharing community Sharkle.com. The company recently closed a major Series A round led by media investors and has attracted notable angel backers. Turner Broadcasting, one of the Series A investors, plans to test ViTrue’s model with an online campaign called "Funny or Not?" later this year. Observers in the article noted it is still unclear whether this model will reliably monetize user-generated video or avoid copyright issues that challenge other platforms.
