Vmix provides an online video platform that lets media sites add video-uploading and social-networking features. The company competes with KickApps, VSocial, and Reality Digital. Its client list includes NASA, ESPN, Raycom Media, Penguin Books, The McClatchy Company, Toyota-Scion, and Post Newsweek Television Stations. Vmix says it raised $2.5 million in a Series C to speed rollout to more markets, particularly Europe and Asia. The press release does not disclose the investors behind the round. The company has received a total of $26 million in venture funding to date. VMIX provides online video and media management solutions for enterprise and other organizations. The company is headquartered in San Diego and is led by President and CEO Mike Glickenhaus. Management says the additional financing will be used to accelerate growth plans and expand into new markets, including enterprise and non-profit arenas. Leadership cites rapid growth in online video consumption driven by broader broadband access and advances in streaming technology. Financially, VMIX closed a $2M Series B-1 round that brings total invested in the company to date to $23.5M. The company characterized the round as an inside financing that was agreed and closed quickly so management could focus on building the business.
